In addition to Intuit&#8217;s personal and small business <a href=\"http:\/\/www.linkedwords.com\/business\/accounting\/accounting-software\/accounting_software.php\">accounting software<\/a>, and the company&#8217;s partnership with Google to integrate services like Maps listing and AdSense buys, Intuit customers will now presumably <span id=\"bwanpa2\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" vspace=\"5\" align=\"left\" width=\"187\" src=\"http:\/\/web2innovations.com\/money\/i\/homesteadlogo.jpg\" hspace=\"5\" height=\"53\" \/><\/span>be able to put up websites quickly and easily with Homestead. This transaction will enable Intuit to offer Web site creation and e-commerce. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><\/span>The cash transaction is valued at approximately $170 million, including the assumption of Homestead&#8217;s outstanding options and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.linkedwords.com\/business\/investing\/stocks-and-bonds\/stocks\/restricted_stock.php\">restricted stock<\/a> units. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The transaction is expected to close during the first calendar quarter of 2008 and is subject to regulatory review and other customary closing conditions. Intuit expects the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.linkedwords.com\/business\/small-business\/merger-and-acquisition\/acquisition.php\">acquisition<\/a> to be slightly dilutive in fiscal 2008 and 2009. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" vspace=\"5\" align=\"left\" width=\"120\" src=\"http:\/\/web2innovations.com\/money\/i\/intuit_color.jpg\" hspace=\"5\" height=\"24\" \/><\/span><\/span>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153<\/span>This acquisition supports our growth strategy in small business by addressing an underserved need, and continues Intuit<span id=\"bwanpa3\">\u00e2\u20ac\u2122<\/span>s move beyond financial management solutions into helping small businesses solve other important problems,<span id=\"bwanpa4\">\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/span> said Brad Smith, senior vice president of Intuit<span id=\"bwanpa5\">\u00e2\u20ac\u2122<\/span>s small business group. <span id=\"bwanpa6\">\u00e2\u20ac\u0153<\/span>Homestead helps us solve one of small businesses<span id=\"bwanpa7\">\u00e2\u20ac\u2122<\/span> highest priorities <span id=\"bwanpa8\">\u00e2\u20ac\u201c<\/span> attracting customers <span id=\"bwanpa9\">\u00e2\u20ac\u201c<\/span> by helping them succeed on the Web.<span id=\"bwanpa10\">\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The backstory is a bit more interesting as per what the Homestead&#8217;s CEO says below:<\/p>\n<p>Ever since I started Homestead in 1997, I have kept two lists.\u00c2\u00a0 The first list is all the acquisition offers we have received over the years (it&#8217;s nineteen long, not counting this one).\u00c2\u00a0 The second list is a &#8220;wish list&#8221; that contains companies I would actually consider selling our &#8220;baby&#8221; to; companies that have resonated with me and the Homestead philosophy of doing business over the span of my career (this list has four members).\u00c2\u00a0 Intuit is on the first list twice and, as you might guess, a member of the illustrious second list.
